Lydia’s Love Moments was founded while Lydia was hospitalized for 18 months of her first two years of life with a congenital heart disease (CHD). Her family's difficult experience helped us see the needs of heart families. Lydia's Love Moments serves CHD patients and their families while in Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. Our mission is to enrich the lives of these families by creating moments to love and inspire hope in their darkest days. We provide meals, activities, and support with the assistance of our generous donors and through fundraisers that increase awareness of congenital heart defects and organ donation.

Giving Week Progress:

  Programs Supported by Your Donations

Lydia's Love Moments (LLM) provides monthly events throughout the year. LLM begins the year celebrating Lydia’s Happy Heart Transplant Day by filling tote bags for every cardiac patient in Pittsburgh Children's Hospital with essential items the families need during their stay. Twice a year, LLM serves dinners with desserts along with crafts and games to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House where they are staying to be close to their sick children. In the spring and fall, LLM hosts luncheons for the cardiac intensive care and step-down units. In August, we provide snack totes filled with lunch items. Throughout the year, LLM gives parents prepaid parking passes for all heart transplant hospital visits. One of our favorite services of the year is when LLM teams up with Emily Rose Photography to provide a photo session for the patients and families in the CICU and cardiac step-down units. LLM covers the cost of the session including new outfits for patients and family members and all photo rights. In addition to our monthly activities, LLM's goal each year is to provide funding for a major project for the cardiac unit. LLM transformed a treatment room into an underwater themed, child-friendly experience.

Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help

In order for LLM's mission to be accomplished we hold an ice cream social every May where approximately 500 families and friends from the surrounding Western PA and Eastern OH areas attend and contribute to this fundraising event. Due to the cancellation of our major fundraising event, we will be short on funds to carry out our mission. We also rely on donations from local businesses that have been negatively impacted by the pandemic. COVID19 stopped the world, but not the needs of our CHD families. Our goal this year was to raise $10,000 from our Ice Cream Social.
