Penn State Shenango is located in the heart of downtown Sharon and is a crucial asset for revitalizing the downtown area. With new majors and the expansion of our athletic department, we're improving the quality of life for our students and providing a Penn State degree in the Shenango Valley. The growth of our campus boosts the culture, economic development, and energy in downtown Sharon. We know golf has a rich history in the Shenango Valley, and building a successful program will help retain our youth to stay in the community while earning a world-class Penn State degree.

Programs Supported by Your Donations
Building a golf program at the Shenango campus allows us to utilize our resources like Buhl Park and local courses to help retain our youth in the Valley. It also enables the campus to recruit local talent while growing our enrollment and bringing more foot traffic through downtown Sharon. We can already envision partnering with the First Tee program, hosting summer camps, and a Penn State Shenango Invitational. Granting our youth the opportunity to continue playing the sport they love and earn a Penn State degree while doing it, is the key to establishing a successful program. With your financial support, we can have a direct economic impact at the local level and continue to add to the legacy golf has in the Shenango Valley.
Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help
Before the last year, momentum for expanding our Athletic department was in great shape. Men's basketball made the playoffs for the second straight season and had their sights on a deep playoff run. Women's Volleyball was coming off a successful second season, and both teams had their seasons cut short due to the pandemic. Without athletics last year, our local Alumni Society stepped up to continue that momentum and made a gift to start the Women's basketball program. Since then, women's basketball has a full roster, and we're looking forward to watching all three sports compete this fall.
