Giving Week Progress:

  Programs Supported by Your Donations

Salvation Army youth programs are in the process of adapting to social distancing health and safety restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Salvation Army Greenville strives to ensure that social distancing doesn’t mean social disconnection for young people whose proper development depends upon constructive, engaging social interactions with both peers and adult mentors. Funds are needed to transition youth programming from in-person to virtual formats, including the “Summer Camp…in a box!” program and other online teen and youth enrichment activities. “Summer Camp…in a box!” includes materials and ideas to exercise mind, body and spirit, including arts & crafts, lessons and experiments in science, physical activities, things to do together as a family, additional online resources and thoughtful ways to help others during this challenging time.

Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help

Program restrictions to limit potential exposure to COVID-19 infection for our staff and young people make on-site, in-person activities not feasible for this summer. Instead, materials for interactive youth camp will be home delivered in a box filled with activities inspiration, snacks, and instructions on how to log on to the online Zoom platform. “Summer Camp…in a box!” keeps virtual campers happy and connected to a network of young neighbors for a full six weeks. As The Salvation Army adapts to these new online programs, costs including supplies, transportation and more are still incurred, even on these nontraditional platforms.
