AMOUNT DONATED: $200
In 2016, the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown founded Ursuline Sisters Mission to oversee and strengthen their vibrant and life-giving ministries and continue to provide leadership and support in the region long into the future. With radical compassion and respect for all, we offer housing, food, healthcare, education, wellness, and advocacy. In 2017, Ursuline Sisters Mission developed the Education Outreach Program. The Scholars Program was developed under the Education Outreach umbrella to assist low-income students with the opportunity to achieve post-secondary education by focusing on scholar support & educational advocacy; financial assistance; personal & professional development opportunities; and mentorship.

Programs Supported by Your Donations
Potential donations will support our Ursuline Sisters Mission Scholars Program. The Scholars Program serves students who are 200% below the poverty level and are pursuing post-secondary education, including colleges and technical programs. We have a four-pronged approach to break the cycle of generational poverty through post-secondary education, including providing personal and professional development opportunities, financial support, student advocacy and case management, as well as mentorship opportunities. In this program we provide financial assistance such as purchasing textbooks, school supplies, monthly gift cards for food and travel expenses to remove barriers to education. We also provide referrals to community resources for scholarships and grants to aid in academic-related needs. We provide and refer our Scholars to training programs and workshops on various topics such as financial management, time management, stress management, and academic/study skills. Lastly, one-on-one support is provided by our program coordinator, who engages in student advocacy and essential case management services.
Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help
Our Scholars program expanded to Trumbull County by opening a new location in proximity to the Kent State Trumbull and TCTC students we serve. This allows a stronger presence on-campus to recruit new students and potential mentors. The new location will foster more support amongst our students, who are mostly first-generation college students, living in poverty, or single parents. As we reestablish our agency and grow a larger donor base, any additional funding assistance is appreciated as we impact more lives in Trumbull County.
