Established in the summer of 2017, the Building of Hope ministry is dedicated to demonstrating the love of Christ through the provision of gently used furniture and essential household items. Our aim is to offer individuals in our community facing hardships a supportive hand up, emphasizing empowerment over mere assistance. To meet the demand for beds, we've forged a partnership with Laskey’s Furniture in Sharon. The bulk of our grant funding is allocated towards the purchase of beds and paying rent at our storage facility. Additionally, we distribute "Baskets of Hope" containing toiletries, a Daily Bread devotional, and extend invitations to attend church services.

Programs Supported by Your Donations
Our ministry extends assistance to individuals and families within our community by providing beds and essential household items. We cater to various groups including the working poor, single parents, veterans, seniors, individuals with disabilities on fixed incomes, and more. Nearly all the beds are purchased brand new, while the living room furniture is sourced from gently used donations. We personally deliver these items to the recipients. Additionally, each family we serve receives a Basket of Hope—a laundry basket stocked with toiletries, cleaning supplies, essential household items, a Daily Bread devotional, and an invitation to join our church. Since our establishment in 2017, we've supported 2,241 families, distributing 2,564 beds, 1,494 pieces of living room furniture, and essential items.
Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help
In January 2024, the ministry relocated to a more central spot within the Shenango Valley. Presently, our expenses include a monthly rent of $1000 plus utilities. Any funds received from grant support will be allocated to cover rent expenses and the procurement of beds. While we obtain beds at cost, our current purchasing rate stands at five beds per week, totaling over $1000 weekly.
