Shenango Valley Pride Alliance works to reduce social isolation among LGBTQIA+ folks in and around Western Pennsylvania through ongoing community building, events, access to mental health resources, and education. We’re building a world where every LGBTQIA+ person can grow up safely and live a long, full, happy life. At Shenango Valley Pride Alliance we strive to build a happy community, which starts with acceptance, tolerance, and respect, so we happily accept all people regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race and racial identity, religion and spirituality, age, socio-economic status, disability, national origin, marital status, political party, homelessness

Programs Supported by Your Donations
At Shenango Valley Pride Alliance we are proud to offer monthly adult and youth support groups for members of LGBTQIA+ community, their parents, and friends. We host monthly art and game nights to increase socialization and mental health benefits. We have a full resource library with materials aimed at multiple groups including the LGBTQIA+ community, our parents, family, friends, and allies. Our True Colors Corner Cabinet provides hygiene products, shoes, binders, clothing, and accessories. These products are provided free of charge thanks to generous donations, for gender exploration in navigating personal journeys in a safe place or if anyone needs basic supplies. SVPA also offers individual support sessions, hair and make-up tutorials, educational sessions such as Safe Zone Training, health resources such as HIV/STI testing and treatment, and referrals to mental health providers and community resources for emergency assistance and food insecurity.
Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help
We have been consistently applying for grants since opening the SVPA center in Sharon last June. Resources are spread very thin due to grant reductions at the federal level, so national and local foundations are unable to meet the high number of non-profits seeking help. We are trying to keep the SVPA center open, as our members have expressed how much the ongoing events help their mental health and feeling of belonging. Over the past year our attendance has increased more than eight-fold; the work we do continues to draw more vulnerable citizens in need.
