  Programs Supported by Your Donations

DSAV provides unique and purposeful programming that helps individuals with Down syndrome achieve the highest level of independence. DSAV services begin at the diagnosis of Down syndrome through the life span of the individual. Programs such as Buddy Up Tennis, DSAV Yoga, and DSAV Cooking & Nutrition promote health & wellness. The iCAN Shine adaptive bike camp helps individuals with Down syndrome become independent bike riders. The Improvanneer program works on improving social and communication skills for our young adults and the iPAD distribution program with education apps assist the early learners with speech, reading, math and writing. DSAV leads the inclusion movement by providing classroom Down syndrome awareness kits to schools. DSAV also assists families with obtaining the necessary speech and occupational therapy services. New parent support is provided through parent mentoring and support groups. Social events are planned throughout the year to bring families together to support each other and to provide socializing opportunities for members with Down syndrome.

Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help

In recent years, DSAV has seen an increase in program participation and has also received requests from members to implement new programs to meet their children's needs. Our ability to expand and implement new programs dependson the success of our fundraising events as well as individual and business donations and small community grants. DSAV is not a fee-for-service organization and does not receive any federal or state funding. Inflation has risen significantly in the last few years which has led to less donor dollars coming into the organization while costs in all areas of business are increasing. DSAV is always searching for ways to cut costs and increase revenue without cutting programs that would negatively impact our friends with Down syndrome.
