ENVISION BLIND SPORTS

SERVING THE SHENANGO VALLEY, LAWRENCE COUNTY, GREENVILLE / NORTHERN MERCER COUNTY, GROVE CITY, WARREN (OH) / SOUTHERN TRUMBULL COUNTY, AND NORTHERN TRUMBULL COUNTY

AMOUNT DONATED: $8,868.57

Envision Blind Sports’ mission is to increase sport, outdoor adventure, fitness, and physical activity opportunities for individuals who are blind or visually impaired in order to promote lifelong wellness. There is a significant lack of opportunities and education for blind sports, and we aim to increase awareness and build more programming. Through our organization, individuals are given opportunities to push themselves beyond what is expected.

  Programs Supported by Your Donations

Envision Blind Sports has three main pillars. These pillars are summer camps and clinics, outdoor adventure, and education. Our organization provides year-round opportunities to participate in over 25 different sports and physical activities. Programs include downhill and cross-country skiing, goalball, blind basketball, judo, wrestling, track and field, swimming, long boarding, blind soccer, canoeing, kayaking, tandem cycling, snowshoeing, dance, trampoline park, rock wall, dek hockey, horseback riding, archery, golfing, kickball, lacrosse, tennis, and high ropes courses. We are constantly on the lookout for new opportunities for our athletes and believe that every sport deserves consideration. We want the athletes in our program to find something that excites them to move and increase their physical activity participation and level. We also make it a top priority to educate schools and local organizations about blind sports and increase their awareness of the power of sport for all individuals, regardless of disability.

Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help

Envision Blind Sports is currently preparing for our week long summer sports camp to be held at Penn State Behrend from July 14-20, 2024. We will be hosting 75 blind/visually impaired children who range in age from 7-18 years old for a week filled with 25 different sports. 48% of parents have requested financial aid to cover the $600 registration fee. The actual cost of camp is closer to $1500/athlete. We need to raise over $80,000 to supplement the registration fee and cover the cost of camp for our athletes and volunteers. We are reaching out to community members, grants, and businesses for support so we can continue to offer camp for all blind athletes, regardless of their ability to pay.
