FREEDOM WARRIOR CHARITABLE FUND
SERVING LAWRENCE COUNTY, THE SHENANGO VALLEY, GREENVILLE / NORTHERN MERCER COUNTY, GROVE CITY, WARREN (OH) / SOUTHERN TRUMBULL COUNTY, AND NORTHERN TRUMBULL COUNTY
AMOUNT DONATED: $5,300
A group of us from the Youngstown Air Reserve Base CommunityCouncil organized the Freedom Warrior Charitable Fund to address the needs of local veterans. All donations are greatly appreciated and a wonderful way to show your gratitude for the sacrifices of veterans as well as your patriotic pride.
We chose to create a fund separate from other veteran organizations to assure that the funds contributed locally go to the veterans and military personnel in the Mahoning and Shenango Valley areas. We also operate primarily with a group of volunteers to minimize administrative costs.

FUNDRAISING GOAL: $10,000
Programs Supported by Your Donations
Specifically, we support and fulfill the basic and special needs of disabled and disadvantaged veterans as well as the needs of active military members. Veterans and military personnel in need complete our application and submit it to their local Department of Veteran’s Affairs for approval. The application is reviewed by seven individuals who donate their time to ensure that the Freedom Warriors’ criteria are met before a grant is issued.
Veterans receive support to help pay for unanticipated expenses that, without assistance, would greatly diminish their quality of life. Examples in the past include physical therapy, hot water tanks, household bills after a job loss, or the patching of a roof. Whatever the need, we stand ready to help.
Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help
Since 2014, we have raised close to a $ 1,000,000 with local sponsorships, individual donors, and the generous assistance of the Avalon group of golf courses who previously hosted fundraising events. We have assisted Veteran’s with about $900,000 in grants with an administrative and fundraising cost of less than 1%. The story of the Freedom Warrior Charitable fund is one of what a community can do when it comes together to support an important cause, even after traditional fundraising options had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.
