Meals on Wheels of New Castle delivers freshly made lunches and suppers to the homes of local residents, primarily the elderly. Our meals are delivered by compassionate volunteers who have been trained in safe practices to limit COVID exposure. We deliver Mondays through Fridays to most New Castle addresses, and on a modified schedule to some of the outlying areas. Although our clients can be any age, income or disability status, the menu is established to meet the nutritional needs of individuals over 65. The cost for lunch and supper is $7.00 daily,$35.00 weekly, and $1,820 yearly.

Programs Supported by Your Donations

All of our programming is supported by donations; we receive no state or federal funding. Some donations are utilized for general operating expenses, yet many donations are applied to our sponsorship fund. We frequently have clients who experience hardship; they have unexpected expenses and can't afford to pay for their food AND medication or a household repair. Often these clients will give up their MOW food so they can pay a bill. Our sponsorship program will pay for the client's meals until they are back on their feet. A donation of $35 pays for a week; $1,820 will cover a whole year of meals; $9,100 will cover the cost of meals for a year for five clients.

Shortages in our sponsorship fund reduces the number of clients who can be given assistance. We rely on the generosity of our donors; an increase in donations allows us to help more clients.
