Programs Supported by Your Donations
The MCHS strives to provide educational opportunities to the public free of charge. We encourage visitors to experience our thoughtfully curated museum displays designed to help tell the
story of our county’s past. Tours are available upon request. We especially enjoy hosting large groups of eager learners such as students on field trips and
participants of historic bus tours.
Our speaker presentations feature knowledgeable guests with a passion for their subject matter, and our special ceremonies, such as our recent America 250 Revolutionary War Patriot Vigil event, often commemorates the service and contributions of those
deserving to be honored. The MCHS houses the largest collection of family histories in Mercer County. Researchers find our library to be a valuable resource for finding genealogical information. The museum offers genealogical research assistance if needed for a
deeper dive into your family history.
The MCHS owns and preserves several historic buildings/sites located on and off the MCHS campus. These include the Dr. James Magoffin House, the Beringer-Caldwell One-Room School Museum, the Raische Log Cabin, the T. W. McClain & Son Print
Shop, and the Chief Guyasuta Monument.
Our volunteer program is great for anyone wanting to gain experience working with the public.
Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help
Though we sincerely appreciate all of the financial support given to us through visitor donations and fundraising, we largely fall short when it comes to money to cover contractor bills. The preservation of of historic buildings and cost of repairs to our museum often cost thousands of dollars that we just don't have. That's why donations are so important to us.
Additionally, we would like to upgrade our signage to improve our visibility and attract more visitors.
