SKYLINE SUMMIT PARK AND RECREATION

SERVING THE SHENANGO VALLEY AND GREENVILLE / NORTHERN MERCER COUNTY

AMOUNT DONATED: $0

Skyline Summit Park and Recreation's (SSPR) mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and vibrant environment that promotes health, wellness, and community engagement for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

The park will be developed in three phases:

-Phases1: Two baseball/softball practice fields, batting cages, and a walking track.

- Phase 2: Tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court, a pavilion for community events, children’s play structure, and the restoration of a maintenance building.

- Phase 3: Restoration of the fishing lake culvert and the construction of a multi-purpose facility for conferences, banquets, indoor sports, and seminars.

Giving Week Progress:

FUNDRAISING GOAL: $10,000

  Programs Supported by Your Donations

The primary focus of this initiative is the construction of new 70’ x 12’ x 12’ batting cages. Funding will cover essential site preparation, including leveling and excavation, as well as the purchase and installation of durable poles and commercial-grade netting. These facilities will provide a functional, secure standard for baseball and softball training.

Additionally, funds will be used to enhance our accessible 200-meter walking track. Designed to promote health and social engagement across all generations, the circular track is centered around a children’s play area. This allows caregivers to stay active while supervising children, fostering intergenerational connections and reducing sedentary behavior.

There is currently a high demand for baseball and softball fields within the Shenango Valley, leaving many local teams struggling to find adequate practice space. Any donations toward the completion of SSPR’s fields would directly help resolve this issue. Contributions will allow us to purchase specialized infield dirt and rent the excavating equipment necessary to finish this project.

Needs that Cannot beMet without Your Help

Due to a lack of funding, we were unable to permit several softball and baseball teams to use our fields for practice this season, as the spaces were not adequately prepared. Additionally, the batting cages remain incomplete because we lack the funds to purchase necessary netting and hire an electrician to power the pitching machines.

We haven’t been able to promote the 200-meter walking track, as it still requires additional aggregate, leveling, and rolling to be functional. Although we have applied for several grants over the past year, we have unfortunately been unsuccessful in acquiring any major funding to date.
